Matisse and her family have made the journey from New Zealand and are now in Pittsburgh. Matisse is on the transplant waiting list at Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.
Matisse's family are on six month visitor visas and must rely on the American immigration department to renew their visas and allow Matisse to stay in Pittsburgh long enough to receive treatment. At this stage Jodee and Wayne are not allowed to work, financially and emotionally this has been difficult.
All parents pray for the best for their children…
I pray that my daughter will wake up in the morning without vomiting and without pain.
I pray my other children weren’t woken up in the night with their sisters piercing scream.
I pray that today is the day that she will eat a meal that today is the miracle we have been waiting for.
I pray today we will not go to hospital and if we do the doctors will finally know the answers.
I pray that today she will not cry because the pain is too much and the words “my tummy hurts” will not be said.
I pray her hickman line will give me blood and her blood results are perfect.
I pray the nightmare of the last six years were just that …a bad dream.
I pray today she can have a normal day.
I pray today is the day we are told my daughter can be cured.
I pray she can grow up and experience life as it should be.
I pray she will enter adulthood and have a family of her own.
I pray she will grow old and bury me not the other way around.
But most of all I pray today is not the day that she is taken from us forever.
I pray she will wake up.
Thank you for your support. Without the generosity of friends, family and fellow New Zealanders and support from around the world we would not be here.
